ADEMOLA SMASHES NATIONAL U23 INDOOR LONG JUMP RECORD IN DENMARK

POSTED:

Reece Ademola (Leevale A.C.) has smashed the Irish U23 indoor Long Jump record this evening in Denmark.

Competing at the Aarhus Sprint'n'Jump meet the 20-year-old from Cork secured an impressive victory with a massive 7.86m leap in the second round.

The performance improves the previous record, which had been held by Ciaran McDonagh since March 1996, by 27cm.

Ademola’s previous indoor personal best stood at 7.51m.

The Munster Technological University student now moves to third on the Irish senior indoor All-Time list behind only Adam McMullen (7.99m PB) and Ciaran McDonagh (8.00m NR).

Last weekend at the 123.ie National U20 and U23 Indoor Championships in TUS International Arena, Athlone, Ademola won gold in the U23 Long Jump with a 7.17m championship record.

Molly Scott (St. Laurence O’Toole A.C.) was also in action at the meet. The Carlow sprinter finished second in the Women’s 60m clocking a season’s best of 7.38 seconds.
