BARR FIFTH IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINALS

POSTED:

Thomas Barr came fifth in the men’s 400m Hurdles World Championship Semi-Finals in Oregon in the early hours of this morning (July 18th). It has been a rollercoaster season of emotions for the Ferrybank Olympian, with a strong performance at the start of the season, before picking up an injury prior to the Irish Life Health National Senior Championships in June, returning to win his 10th National 400mH Championship title.

Barr had a season best performance of 49.15 finishing second in the heats of the World Championships to advance to the next stage. The semi-final was stacked with world class talent including the Tokyo Olympic Games silver medallist Rai Benjamin of USA. Barr crossed the line in fifth position with a time of 50.08, seeing him finish the competition 19th overall.

Andrew Coscoran was twelfth in the men’s 1500m World Championship Semi-Final in Oregon. Coscoran crossed the finish line in a time of 3:44.66 in a tough and tactical semi-final, featuring Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Josh Kerr of Great Britain. Both Barr and Coscoran will now shift their attention towards the European Championships next month in Munich.
