Healy and Becker go 3rd and 5th on Irish All-Time List

Phil Healy completed a double at the Irish Milers Club meet in Belfast on Saturday which included a 51.50PB over 400m .  The time ranks as the third fastest 400m ever by an Irish woman.

Sophie Becker also ran her fastest ever 400m when placing second to Healy, clocking 52.32, improving her best previous best of 53.20 and moving her to top five on the Irish all-time list.

Healy also won the 200m  with a time of 23.21 ahead of recent second place finishers at the World Relays,  Kate Doherty and Aoife Lynch.

Michelle Finn won the 3,000m steeplechase with an impressive effort of 9:39.44 to finish ahead of Rio Olympian Kerry O'Flaherty. The time was the second fastest of her career as the Leevale athlete continues on her journey towards qualification for Tokyo.

The Men’s 800m saw John Fitzsimons edge out Harry Purcell in a tight finish with both athletes crossing the line in 1:46.53 (PBs).

Georgie Hartigan also came away with a personal best in the Women’s 800m with a 2:00.18 second place finish behind Alexandra Bell (GB).

Marcus Lawlor won the men's 200m in 20.99, with Israel Olatunde Israel crossing first in the mens 100m in 10.61. Molly Scott secured first place in the Women’s 100m in 11.91.

Hiko Tonosa dominated the Men’s 5000m with a 13.36.71, while Aoife Kilgallon of Sligo AC was first in the Women’s 5,000 in 16:11.67.                            

Daragh McElhinney clocked 03:43.87 in the 1500m to finish ahead of Cormac Dalton in 03:46.50.    

The Men’s 400m was dominated by Galway City Harriers athletes, with Cillin Greene (46.45) finishing ahead of Robert McDonnell (46.59).

Ruby Millet of St Abbans AC put in a super round of jumping in the Women’s Long Jump, finishing with a stadium record of 6.32m which is inside the European U23 qualifying standard.

Away from Belfast, Andrew Coscoran looked impressive in securing first place in the Netherlands in 3:36.05 for 1500m (11th all-time list).

A special mention also for Olympian Tommy Hughes who smashed the World Age Group Record at the NI & Ulster 50k Championships with a time of 3.06:28.
