Healy Secures Personal Best in Madrid

Phil Healy (Bandon AC) secured a personal best (indoor) for a third place finish at the World Indoor Tour final in Madrid.

Healy clocked 51.66 seconds in the 400m final, closing in further on the national 400m record set by Karen Shinkins in 2002.

The race was won by Lithuanian Modesta Juste Morauskaite  in 51.63.

Sarah Lavin (Emerald AC) also continued her brilliant early season form in the 60m hurdles final, crossing in 8.14 seconds for third place. The race was won by Zoe Sedney of the Netherlands in 7.95.

Sophie Becker (Raheny Shamrock) looked very composed in her 400 'B’ final, taking first place in 52.98 (4th overall), following up her recent PB performance at national indoor last weekend.

All three athletes had already secured qualification standards for the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade from March 17th.
