HER Outdoors Week (14-20th August): Dundrum A.C.

POSTED:

The Dundrum AC Her Outdoors 8k walk took place Monday August 14th. We had 26 ladies in total and 1 dog!

We had a some of our regular Fit4Life members along with some new people that came to join in from neighbouring villages Golden & Lattin along with some Dundrum village locals.

As a club, we wanted to promote the accessibility of our club for walkers with aim to progress to jogging and running if suitable. The start and finish were at the community hall where our running track is located and so we could promote this to all walkers and highlighting that our track has full lights so in the coming dark winter months it is ideal for anyone that joins to continue with exercising. We also wanted to include a social meet up with tea/coffee afterwards, similar to what open races offer.

Our event went off very well, only a light drizzle of rain and our walkers were able to walk accompanied by others at similar pace. Three of our club men even volunteered to serve the tea/coffee and light bites after the walk!

Many thanks again for your continued work promoting athletics with Athletics Ireland.
