NATIONAL 10 MILE SET FOR PHOENIX PARK RETURN

POSTED:

The National 10 Mile Championships take place alongside the final instalment of this year's Athletics Ireland Race Series sponsored by Sports Travel International this weekend, with the Irish Runner 10 Mile set to return to the Phoenix Park on Sunday July 10th.

This year’s championships get underway from 9am with over 50 clubs set to battle it out for national honours.

Raheny Shamrock will be out to defend their title in the senior men’s race, boasting a strong looking line up that includes recent national 10k champion Mick Clohisey. The evergreen Raheny star will be looking to make it twelve national titles overall when he takes to the start line on Chesterfield Avenue on Sunday morning. Form lines can be a little hard to estimate given the 2-year break since the last national 10 mile, but Raheny look to also hold a strong hand in the 35+ categories.

Rathfarnham W.S.A.F took the men’s 50+ title in 2019, but this year’s competition looks wide open and hard to call on paper.

Donore Harriers stormed to a senior women’s title in 2019, finishing with over 12 minutes to spare on their nearest challengers and are sure to be tough to pass again this year.

There will be new champions in the women’s 50+ race in the absence of holders Mayo AC, with Brother Pearse likely to challenge as they look to better their silver medals from the last edition of these championships.

All individual medals will be issued in the Phoenix Park from 10.45am at the presentation area. Team medals will be issued from the medal table located after the finish line on Chesterfield Avenue

  • National championships entries are asked to proceed to the front wave on Sunday for a 9am start
