Sarah Lavin makes World Indoor Championship FINAL

POSTED:

Sarah Lavin (Emerald AC) has secured a place in the World Indoor Championship 60m Hurdles final, the first from Team Ireland to reach the finals at this competition and the first since the 2010 Championships in Doha when David Gillick took to the 400m finals and secured a fifth-place finish. Prior to that Derval O’Rourke and James Noal reached the 2006 World Indoor Championships Finals, where Derval O'Rourke became the 60m Hurdle World Champion, in the same year she set the current national record of 7.84.

After a near perfect race execution in her heat performance early this morning the sprint hurdler secured a new PB of 8.03 and a third-place finish to automatically qualify for the semi-finals. Lavin reviewed her performance with coach Noelle Morrisey with a renewed focus reaching that perfect performance.

At the semi-finals, returning to lane 8, Lavin produced an impeccable performance breaking the 8 second barrier and forging her way to the finals of this World Indoor Championships, setting a new PB of 7.97 seconds.

Sarah Lavin will take to the World Indoor Championships 60m Hurdle Finals at 8:08pm tonight.
